If we haven’t spent all of our hard-earned money, we want to leave most of it to our children and grandchildren.  However, we also want to leave a legacy that will benefit the non-profit organizations that we have passionately supported for many years.”

Bernie and Jackie have been owners of a successful family business for over 50 years and are life-long residents of Kansas City.  Their generous spirit has helped several non-profit organizations in the Kansas City area.

They learned from their financial advisor and attorney that by simply changing the beneficiaries on their will and trust to include these non-profits, their wishes can be carried out without affecting their current lifestyle or their estate plans for their heirs.

One of the non-profit organizations benefitting is Bernie’s alma mater, Benedictine College.  Tim Andrews, Director of Planned Giving, states: “This gift will be a great benefit to Benedictine’s endowment and future expansion plans.  The impact for us is huge.”

This is a great example of how legacy giving can be accomplished for the benefit of the nonprofits you wish to support, all without cost or impact on your current lifestyle.  These efforts, when undertaken by more donors, will have a tremendous positive impact on the future.
